LEAP24 and HIVED Partner to Support London’s EV-First Logistics Future

The partnership brings together two businesses committed to accelerating the transition to zero-emission transport. As HIVED continues to expand its fully electric delivery network, it is utilising LEAP24’s ultra-rapid charging hubs, primarily the London City Airport location, to charge its electric heavy goods vehicles (eHGVs) overnight. With spacious, commercial vehicle-friendly bays capable of accommodating vehicles up to 12 metres in length, the site provides a reliable charging solution while helping ensure vehicles are fully charged and ready for operation at the start of each day.

Unlike many logistics operators that are gradually transitioning to electric vehicles, HIVED has built its operation around an all-electric fleet from day one. By deploying electric heavy goods vehicles across its network, the company is demonstrating that sustainable logistics can operate successfully at scale today.

Overnight charging plays an important role in commercial fleet operations, allowing vehicles to recharge outside of operational hours and maximise vehicle availability during the day. As more businesses begin deploying electric HGVs, access to reliable ultra-rapid charging infrastructure will become increasingly important in supporting the transition to zero-emission freight.

Supporting electric HGVs requires charging infrastructure that goes beyond the needs of passenger cars. LEAP24’s charging hubs have been designed with commercial vehicles in mind, offering extra-wide charging bays, easy site access and charging speeds of up to 300kW. At its London City Airport hub, vehicles up to 12 metres long can charge comfortably, making the site well suited to the next generation of electric freight vehicles.
